I was about to write my first message similar to the others you may read. Typically about what it is like being here, aspects of the job, and how I am involved in the project. Definitely working at Hopital Albert Schweitzer is different than other work I have done in the past, but I’ll save that for next time.

Last Friday ended like most Fridays, I walked back to the common housing, chatting with the other housemates, relaxing. Word came from the hospital there was a severe tap-tap (the local taxi trucks) accident and numerous people were hurt badly. At once the doctors hurried off to help, but the rest of us were also asked to bring food, water, and give help to the staff. I went over to the main ward and made my way outside through the large crowd that was now gathering. Inside doctors and nurses were busily caring for many rushing to give aid to everyone. Immediately all of us were put to work, mainly helping to move or gather materials for those who needed it. Nothing medical, but enough to let the specialists to strictly focus on helping the patients.
