Last Update from Guatemala

I’m down to my last few days in Guatemala. Unfortunately there were just too many issues to overcome and the timing isn’t right for our particular project. Between access to technology in remote villages or copyright protection issues, a sustainable business model couldn’t be found. For now.

It was a quite an experience to write a feasibility study. I threw myself into the issues, country, and people. I fought hard to come up with a positive recommendation. In the end, I had to look out for the best interest of my sponsoring organization and recommend that they not proceed with the project. My boss was very supportive and agreed with me after reviewing my work. The report has been shelved and the project put on hold until some of the issues can be overcome.

It was a wonderful experience and I hope to be working “without borders” in all I do in the future.

R.
