Janelle heads to Zambia to work with Solar-Aid

Janelle has an international background in both private and public sectors. Most of her professional career has been in Japan (eleven years), where roles included Senior Consultant for a local human resources consulting firm, Business Manager overseeing Japan operations for a US/Indian software development company, and Marketing Manager for Dale Carnegie Training. Prior to this Janelle served with the Australian Government on postings to political sections at embassies in the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan and South Korea. She also served as a Dale Carnegie Instructor on a part-time basis for more than a decade, which involved helping people of different nationalities to reach their full potential.
In early 2008 Janelle completed the full-time MBA at MGSM in Sydney, with a grade point average of Distinction, and major in China and Marketing. These studies included a four-month stint at MGSM’s Hong Kong campus. She also holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Southern Queensland, a Certificate in Financial Markets from the Securities Institute of Australia, and a Diploma from Metropolitan Business College (where she was awarded Dux of the college). Janelle has been active in a variety of leadership roles in several countries, including Director of the Manila Boat Club, President of Kanto Toastmasters Club, and Lieutenant Governor of the Japan Toastmasters Council. She speaks English and Japanese.
Janelle has proven interest in global affairs – having traveled in over seventy countries – and is especially familiar with Asia, Europe and West Africa. Prior to graduate studies she spent over four years exploring the globe, traveling overland and mostly alone from Tokyo to Togo. Highlights included trekking the jungles of Sierra Leone, traveling dressed in hejab around Iran, and walking over a thousand kilometers across northern Spain on the Camino de Santiago.
From July 2008, Janelle will join SolarAid in Lusaka, Zambia, where she will assist in setting up SolarAid’s country operations.
