I’ve begun my MWB assignment with the All India Artisans & Craftworkers Welfare Association (AIACA) this month as a business development associate in their enterprise support program. AIACA works towards enhancing the competitiveness and incomes of craft producers in India through advocacy and policy research, enhancing market access and creating more commercially sustainable models for artisan enterprise development.

AIACA has a number of initiatives including a partnership with Aid to Artisans for a market development program, and a certification of handcrafts, Craftmark. You can see the types of products produced in the Craftmark catalog and learn about the crafts at www.craftmark.org

AIACA offices are in New Delhi — and this is the team. (Click on the photo to see the whole team)

It’s monsoon season in Delhi and last week it rained so much the street outside our office was a small river most of the day. River AIACA. (Click on the photo for upriver view).

Craftmark products will be available on World of Good when the marketplace launches. Great scarves, shawls, bags and home decor items — all handcrafted by artisans of India.   If you can’t wait — you can also purchase wild silk shawls from Avani — a Craftmark member — on Tilonia.com.

Business can do amazing things — so go shopping!
