Last week we finished drafting the Streetwires’s Marketing and Sales Strategy. We were working with the management team during a couple weeks trying to identify the companies Mission and core values. We involved in the process the team leaders and the rest of the sales team. We decided to include the rest of the employees for the SWOT analysis as an exercise to encourage employee participation and developed sense of belonging.

Their current business process is based on an Access Data Base; client quotations, sales orders, costing, job cards, sampling, product development, and invoicing. The DB currently is not being used properly and it looks at only some of the employees know exactly what is on the DB. Since there is not an IT department on the company they need to rely on external companies for support. We are in the process of evaluating other software alternatives to cover all the business process.

We started to reviewd the business processes with the idea of finding actual problems of information flow and to determine the structure of the next business management software. The idea will be to have new business processes with focus on the customer needs and with clarity throughout the company.

The implementation of a product development department structured in design and innovation will allow the company to anticipate on a proactive way to the markets needs. This department will be crucial to create a sustainable, profitable handcraft art-wire business.

Thank you for following on this wonderful story of a successful business and effective social up liftmen in South Africa. Next week will have a story of one of the Team leaders of the company.
